FIRST STEPS

INFORMATION ADVICE & GUIDANCE FOR LIFE

First Steps is our gate keeping service, it will be your first point of contact when making a referral to most of Building Blocks Services. First Steps will then refer onto appropriate services.

It is a sign posting service with an aim of reducing the impact on social and health care services, providing increased choices to clients and ensuring more appropriate referrals to other services.

First Steps works with people who are wanting advice, information and support in order to make their lives more manageable.

FIRST STEPS OUTREACH

Works with people who want advice, information and support in order to make their lives more manageable. This service, is funded by the Neighborhood Renewal Fund and can work across all nine NRF areas in Mansfield. These areas include selected postcodes in the following areas Northfield, Bull Farm, Ravensdale, Pleasley Hill, Oak Tree, Warsop, Bellamy Road, Ladybrook and West Titchfield

FIRST STEPS IN THE SURGERY

As above, but it works within GPs surgeries with patients. We work in a few surgeries across Mansfield.

FIRST STEPS SPOT CONTRACTS

First Steps support can be purchased for clients who are not in one of the NRF Areas or are in need of urgent support.

WHAT WE PROVIDE
	We help by enabling clients to finding solutions, find links into appropriate services and find better coping strategies
	First Steps offers a flexible service and so the type of support we offer depends on what the clients needs are.
	We offer a maximum of six appointments with the same support worker each time. Further appointments are negotiable.
	It is a free and confidential service.

OUR PROMISE
All staff are very experienced and highly skilled in working with people who have mental health issues and emotional difficulties. We have workers who have a sound and working knowledge of:
	Housing
	Mental health and other support services
	Information and advice about training, learning, volunteering and employment
	Welfare rights/debt advice
	Advocacy

First Steps workers will support people in accessing more specialist support if required.
The Service has been accredited by the Guidance Advice Board
