HOW WE'RE FUNDED |
|
Options
is a pilot project funded by Supporting People. This is funding
from the Government to ensure that vulnerable people get access
to appropriate support that helps them get on with their lives.
Supporting People’s job is to both fund the contracts,
and to ensure that we are working at a high standard. Options
is reviewed annually by Supporting People.
The funding from Supporting People means that our service
is free to all clients. There’s no means test, you don’t
have to be on a particular benefit. It’s free!
Building Blocks are very committed to getting our clients
involved in making the services better. So we want to hear
your comments about what we do, good and bad. We have plenty
of opportunities for everybody to get more involved if you
want to!

JOHNS
STORY
John was not satisfied
with many aspects of his life, he was isolated, financially
vulnerable, his health was frail and he lacked motivation.
We began to support John and were soon going to medical appointments
with him. Medi wallets were implemented and eye appointments
attended, new prescription glasses we prescribed to remedy
his cataracts.
John was taken advantage of by a bogus sales representative;
Options supported John with Police and Trading Standards appointments
and liaised with the Safeguarding Adults Team. We also ensured
that John was accompanied to withdraw money from his bank
account to make him feel safe.
We arranged for Social Services to provide Home Support to
John, which allowed him to have access to daily homecare support,
weekly care coordinator visits, occupational therapy and support
from the Visual Impairment Team. We were also able to arrange
for a social support agency to support John with shopping
and to motivate him to go out in the community.
Options has enabled John to remain in his own home living
independently, he no longer feels isolated or insecure in
his community.
